The Role

As a Senior Children's Residential Support Worker, you will be a key member of the leadership team, supporting the Deputy Manager in the day-to-day running of the home and providing guidance and mentorship to Residential Support Workers.

You'll help create a safe, stable and nurturing environment where children and young people feel supported, valued and empowered to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting and supervising Residential Support Workers
  • Acting as a role model and mentor to the wider team
  • Deputising for the Deputy Manager when required
  • Promoting the safety, wellbeing and development of children and young people
  • Supporting the implementation of care plans and behaviour support strategies
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with young people
  • Encouraging independence, resilience and life skills development
  • Responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and incidents
  • Maintaining high-quality records, reports and documentation
  • Supporting rota planning and team performance
  • Working collaboratively with social workers, education providers and healthcare professionals
  • Supporting compliance with Ofsted regulations and Children's Home Standards

You will bring experience, leadership qualities and a genuine commitment to delivering high-quality care.

Essential Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Residential Childcare, Children and Young People's Workforce, Health & Social Care, or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years' experience within Children's Residential Care
  • Previous experience supporting, mentoring or supervising staff
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours using positive and therapeutic approaches
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Compassionate, resilient and child-focused approach
