Job Title: Senior Civil Design Engineer
FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading service provider in the water sector for an experienced Senior Civil Design Engineer to strengthen their engineering team at their Peterborough office, with hybrid working available.

Senior Civil Design Engineer Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and civil engineering expertise across a portfolio of water and wastewater projects.
- Review and approve civil design deliverables produced by other engineers, ensuring compliance with established procedures, standards, and best practices.
- Support multi-disciplinary project teams by delivering innovative, cost-effective, and technically robust engineering solutions.
- Participate in Construction Design Management (CDM) and commissioning strategy meetings, contributing technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and ensure all design-related CDM deliverables are completed in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain awareness of technical developments and share knowledge, best practice, and lessons learned across the civil engineering team.
- Ensure compliance with Minimum Asset Standards while constructively challenging existing approaches to drive continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively across Alliance programmes to establish and implement common technical standards, procedures, and engineering practices.
- Support the adoption of digital engineering technologies, including the development of fully attributed 3D models.
- Provide technical mentoring, coaching, and support to junior and less experienced engineers.
- Develop technical design alerts and learning initiatives to promote continual improvement and engineering excellence.
- Ensure designs are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with current legislation, standards, and client requirements.

Senior Civil Design Engineer Requirements
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status, or actively working towards Chartership.
- Strong technical expertise in reinforced concrete structures, steel-framed buildings, buried pipework, and site infrastructure design.
- Experience working on large-scale infrastructure, utilities, water, wastewater, or capital delivery projects.
- Strong understanding of CDM regulations and design responsibilities.
- Excellent leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to effectively review, coordinate, and guide technical design activities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Passion for health & safety, engineering excellence, and innovative design solutions.

Desirable
- Experience working within the water and wastewater sector.
- Knowledge and experience of digital engineering and BIM methodologies.
- Experience working within alliance, framework, or collaborative delivery environments.
- Knowledge of sustainable design principles and low-carbon engineering solutions.
