The Opportunity

The UK & Ireland energy sector is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by rising demand, evolving regulations, and ambitious net-zero targets. Innovation is at the heart of this change, creating opportunities to deliver sustainable infrastructure that will have a lasting impact.

We are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join Stantec’s Energy & Resources team and be part of this exciting journey. Working across four key sectors—Waterpower & Dams, Waste & Generation, Transmission & Distribution, and Minerals & Resources—you will contribute to a broad and diverse portfolio of projects that support the transition to cleaner, more resilient energy systems.

This is your opportunity to work at the forefront of the energy transition, playing a meaningful role in shaping the infrastructure of the future.

About The Role

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will be involved in projects across the full lifecycle—from early-stage concept design through to detailed design and site support. You will work within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team delivering innovative engineering solutions across a wide range of complex and technically challenging energy projects.

Your work will span cutting-edge hydropower and pumped storage schemes such as Coire Glas, Koysha, and Dinorwig, alongside broader energy projects including energy-from-waste facilities, nuclear, hydrogen generation, and transmission and distribution infrastructure.

You will collaborate closely with project managers, technical leaders, and clients, contributing to both advisory and delivery roles. This will include everything from concept design and Owner’s Engineer duties through to contractor-facing detailed design, troubleshooting, installation support, and due diligence activities.

With the flexibility to be based in any of our UK offices, you’ll be part of a well-established, forward-thinking consultancy known for delivering high-quality outcomes and strong client value.

Your Impact

In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering the civil engineering solutions that underpin critical energy infrastructure projects. Your work will directly support the development of sustainable energy systems, helping clients navigate complex challenges while meeting environmental and efficiency goals.

By contributing across multiple sectors and project stages, you will help ensure that engineering solutions are both technically robust and practically deliverable. Your ability to collaborate across disciplines—integrating civil, structural, geotechnical, and M&E inputs—will be key to delivering fully coordinated and effective designs.

You will also bring value through your involvement in advisory and assurance activities, helping clients make informed decisions and manage risk throughout the project lifecycle. Through your technical expertise, attention to detail, and problem-solving mindset, you will help drive quality, innovation, and continuous improvement across the team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
