About The Role

Following major AMP8 framework wins, Binnies (part of the RSK Group) is expanding its UK Water Services capability. We are seeking a Chartered Civil Engineer who is passionate about technical excellence, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.

This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys managing engineering teams and being the go-to technical authority, acting as a subject matter expert (SME) across civil engineering disciplines while supporting and developing our in-house talent within a collaborative design environment.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping high-quality, sustainable water and wastewater solutions while strengthening technical capability across our business.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Civil Design Engineer / Engineering Manager, you will:

  • act as the civil engineering subject matter expert across multiple,
  • lead and review complex civil engineering designs, calculations, reports, and specifications,
  • provide technical assurance, guidance, and problem-solving support to project teams,
  • be the first point of contact for civil engineering technical queries,
  • support the development and application of standards, tools, and best practice,
  • mentor, coach, and train graduate and junior engineers, fostering technical confidence and capability,
  • contribute to design reviews, risk management, and value engineering,
  • collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients,
  • support cost, programme, and quality objectives through sound technical decision-making.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a technically strong, people-focused engineer who enjoys sharing knowledge and raising standards.

Essential

  • Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) status.
  • Proven experience delivering detailed design within the water or wastewater sector.
  • Strong technical judgement and ability to provide clear, pragmatic guidance.
  • Passion for mentoring, training, and developing our in-house talent.
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage clients and stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Experience in undertaking engineering manager role on multi-disciplinary engineering projects
  • Experience with UK water industry clients.
  • Familiarity with industry design standards and assurance processes.
  • Coordination of overseas resources.
  • Experience contributing to technical communities, guidance, or innovation initiatives.
