Where will you be working?
At M Group Energy we’re enabling the energy essential to support our lives.
We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.
This role will be within our Transmission & Renewables team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.
What will you be doing?
We're looking for a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join the team in our Annesley, Nottingham office on a Hybrid basis. In this role, you’ll be a key member of our Design team, that supports OHL (Overhead Line) projects from front end design through to construction.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, thrives in a collaborative environment, and wants to play a central role in delivering critical infrastructure projects across the UK’s energy network!
- Communicate with colleagues at all levels as well as Contractors and Clients
- Carry out geotechnical desktop studies and risk assessment
- Produce specifications for GI, asset inspection, and pile design
- Carry out GI supervision and geotechnical lab scheduling
- Analyze foundation capacity
- Temporary works design (excavation shoring, platform design, culverts etc.)
- New build foundation design (including pile caps)
- Existing foundation upgrade design

What you’ll bring:
- Experience within the OHL industry is preferred but not essential.
- Knowledge of various types of foundations.
- Knowledge of geotechnical desktop studies and risk assessment
- Working toward or holding professional registration (e.g., IEng / CEng)
- The candidate must have attention to detail
- Strong report writing skills
- Appreciation of engineering geology
- Knowledge of ground investigation (GI) works & processes
- Competency in reinforced concrete structural design
- Ability to risk assess at all stages of a project
