Senior Civil Engineer
Location: Birmingham
Type: Full-Time / Hybrid
The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our growing design team, delivering a diverse portfolio of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of both infrastructure and non-infrastructure schemes, taking projects from feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.
You'll provide technical leadership, support the development of junior engineers, and work closely with clients, project managers and design teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest technical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of civil engineering designs from feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.
- Produce and review design concepts, calculations, technical reports, specifications and construction drawings.
- Deliver civil engineering packages including:
- Drainage design
- Highways and access roads
- Earthworks
- Utility infrastructure
- External works
- Coordinate designs with structural, mechanical, electrical, process and BIM teams.
- Undertake design reviews and ensure compliance with relevant standards, specifications and client requirements.
- Prepare and review feasibility studies, appraisal reports and other technical documentation.
- Supervise, mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and quality assurance.
- Assist with project planning, programme management and the monitoring of project budgets and resources.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, supporting successful project delivery.
- Respond to technical queries and provide engineering support throughout construction.
- Promote engineering best practice and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Comply with the Company's Integrated Management System, ensuring adherence to Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures.

Skills & Experience:
The successful candidate will possess:
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (ICE) status or be working towards Chartership.
- Strong experience delivering civil engineering designs across water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Experience delivering both infrastructure and non-infrastructure schemes.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary design projects from concept through to detailed design.
- Experience managing and mentoring junior engineers.
- Strong understanding of UK design standards and engineering best practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear technical reports.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- A client-focused approach with excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous improvement.
