Senior Civil Engineer
Location: Liverpool

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Civil Engineer to join a growing engineering consultancy in Liverpool. Due to continued expansion, recent project wins and a strong pipeline of work, the business is looking to strengthen its civil engineering team with an experienced engineer who can take ownership of projects and deliver high-quality infrastructure and development-led design.
The consultancy works across a diverse portfolio of projects within the education, commercial, healthcare and residential sectors, providing the opportunity to work on varied and technically interesting schemes from feasibility and planning through to detailed design and construction.
The Role
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will take a key role in the delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure design across a range of development projects. You will work within a multidisciplinary environment, taking responsibility for your own projects while supporting and mentoring more junior members of the team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the delivery of civil infrastructure designs for development and masterplanning projects
- Producing and reviewing detailed drainage designs in accordance with current standards, legislation and SuDS principles
- Designing highways, access roads and associated infrastructure in line with relevant UK design codes and adoption requirements
- Taking projects from feasibility and planning through to detailed design and construction
- Preparing technical reports, specifications, drawings and supporting documentation
- Liaising with clients, local authorities, statutory undertakers and other project stakeholders
- Reviewing designs and ensuring technical quality and compliance
- Supporting project management, programme and resource requirements
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
- Contributing to the continued growth and development of the civil engineering team

About You
The successful candidate will have:
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong experience in civil/infrastructure design within a UK consultancy environment
- Experience delivering development-led infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of drainage, highways and general infrastructure design
- Experience using industry software such as Civil 3D, InfoDrainage, MicroDrainage, InfraWorks, Site3D, PDS or Flow
- Good knowledge of relevant UK standards, legislation and adoption processes
- Ideally working towards or holding IEng, CEng, MICE, CIWEM or equivalent
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- The ability to take ownership of projects and work with a high degree of autonomy
- A proactive approach and genuine interest in developing your career
