Senior Civil Engineer
We’re looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our growing Civil & Structural team and help develop our infrastructure capability.
You’ll take a lead role in the delivery of civil engineering projects, working independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team. Alongside your technical responsibilities, you’ll have the opportunity to mentor and support the development of engineers and technicians, helping to build capability across the wider team.
You’ll bring strong experience in Autodesk Civil 3D and MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, with knowledge of AutoCAD and an interest in developing the use of BIM and digital engineering across projects.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead civil engineering design delivery across a range of projects, taking responsibility for your own design packages and supporting wider project teams.
- Produce design deliverables including drawings, specifications, calculations and technical reports.
- Develop practical and buildable solutions across areas such as earthworks, drainage, pavements and external works.
- Work closely with structural and other engineering disciplines to coordinate designs and resolve technical challenges.
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of smaller project teams or defined work packages.
- Support site surveys and construction-stage activities where required.
- Ensure designs meet relevant standards, client requirements and quality processes.
- Monitor and report on project progress, performance and delivery to senior management.
- Contribute to tenders, fee proposals and project planning.
- Build effective relationships with clients, project stakeholders and other disciplines.
- Mentor and support engineers, technicians, graduates and apprentices, sharing technical knowledge and encouraging their development.
- Promote a positive approach to health, safety and quality across project delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
