Blue Diamond Recruitment is proud to be supporting an established, privately owned house builder in the West Midlands with the appointment of an experienced Senior Civil Engineer.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a close-knit team and take a hands-on role across the civil engineering and infrastructure aspects of residential developments, from initial site appraisal and acquisition through planning, detailed design, construction and completion.

Working closely with the Directors and wider in-house team, you’ll have genuine responsibility and the opportunity to influence technical and commercial decisions throughout the development lifecycle.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing civil engineering input into site appraisals and feasibility
  • Identifying technical constraints, opportunities and risks across highways, drainage, levels, utilities and infrastructure
  • Managing civil engineering aspects of developments from pre-acquisition through to handover
  • Coordinating external engineering, highways, drainage and infrastructure consultants
  • Reviewing technical designs, drawings, specifications and reports
  • Supporting planning and technical submissions
  • Liaising with local authorities, highways authorities, water companies and statutory bodies
  • Supporting development budgets, value engineering and infrastructure cost reviews
  • Providing technical support throughout construction
  • Supporting Section 38, 104 and 278 agreements and infrastructure adoptions

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience with Section 38, Section 104 and Section 278 agreements, alongside AutoCAD, Civil 3D, PDS or drainage design software, would be advantageous.

This position would particularly suit someone looking for greater ownership, autonomy and involvement in the delivery of residential developments, within a smaller business where they can make a genuine contribution.
