Senior Civil Engineer – Highways & Drainage
London | £45,000–£55,000 | Hybrid – 3 Days in Office
Are you a Civil Engineer looking for your next step within a growing consultancy where you can take ownership of technically interesting projects across highways, drainage and infrastructure? We’re working with an established engineering consultancy in London who are looking to appoint a Senior Civil Engineer with around 4–7 years’ experience to join their civil engineering team.
The Role
This is a hands-on design role with the opportunity to take projects from initial concept through to detailed design and delivery, working across a varied portfolio of development and infrastructure projects.
You’ll be involved in:
- Highway and infrastructure design from feasibility through to detailed design
- Drainage design and drainage strategies, including SuDS
- Highway alignments, junctions, access roads and associated infrastructure
- S278, S38 and S104 schemes
- Technical reports, specifications, calculations and design drawings
- Working with clients, architects, contractors and wider multidisciplinary teams
- Supporting project delivery, programmes and technical coordination
- Reviewing designs and providing technical input to junior engineers
- Contributing to client meetings and helping develop strong project relationships

About You
We’re looking for someone with:
- 4–7 years’ experience within civil engineering consultancy
- Strong experience in highway and/or drainage design
- Experience working on development infrastructure projects
- Good understanding of UK highway and drainage standards
- Experience with S278, S38 and/or S104 schemes
- Strong AutoCAD experience
- Experience with Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage or similar would be highly beneficial
- A Civil Engineering degree or relevant equivalent qualification
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to work directly with clients and project teams
