Joining Arup
Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach have set us apart for 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.
We work with clients to plan, build, integrate and maintain a wide variety of civil infrastructure, from bridges to reservoirs, from metro tunnels to off-shore wind farms. Our technical teams address every aspect of civil engineering design, working in close collaboration with the full breadth of Arup’s other design and engineering disciplines.
The Opportunity
Arup's Civil Engineering team is looking to recruit a Senior Civil Engineer to join our growing Infrastructure team in Manchester, supporting the delivery of major data centre and electricity transmission projects across the UK.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in the delivery of nationally significant infrastructure that supports the UK's digital economy and energy transition. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you will help shape complex engineering solutions for hyperscale data centres, substations, transmission infrastructure, grid reinforcement projects and associated site development works.
Our projects span the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design, construction support and delivery. You will work closely with clients, contractors and fellow consultants, helping to deliver innovative, sustainable and resilient infrastructure solutions.
As part of Arup's wider UK and global network, you will collaborate with specialists across civil engineering, energy, environmental, planning and digital disciplines, contributing to some of the industry's most challenging and rewarding projects.

What you’ll be doing
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
