Role Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to support and enhance the technical capability of the Design Authority (DA). This role will be suited to an experienced engineer with strong expertise in Civil/Structural design and the ability to provide technical leadership within a high-hazard environment.
Key Deliverables
- Provide technical leadership and excellence in the specification, production and assessment of design packages for infrastructure.
- Provide technical input into the specification of reliability and operational constraints for infrastructure.
- Lead and support the assessment of work control procedures for the maintenance of infrastructure.
- Assess infrastructure design, material state, qualification and ageing mechanisms to support the continued operation of facilities and utilities.
- Provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Discharge and demonstrate a robust safety and security culture.
- Ensure outputs of safety-related contracts meet contractual requirements and appropriate safety standards by acting as an Intelligent Customer.
- Provide technical assurance and challenge to ensure engineering solutions are safe, robust and compliant.
- Support the development and implementation of engineering standards, processes and best practice.

Key Requirements / Qualifications
Essential
- Significant experience in the design and assessment of reinforced concrete and steelwork structures to withstand dynamic loads, including earthquake motions, blast, wind, rain and snow loading.
- Significant experience working on reinforced concrete and steelwork marine structures and jetties.
- Experience of producing robust technical justification to allow relevant civil/structural design modifications to be authorised within a high-hazard industry.
- Ability to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate, maintain, decommission and re-cycle engineering processes, systems, services and products within a nuclear/high-risk environment.
- Strong general and specialist engineering knowledge, with the ability to apply existing and emerging technologies.
- Experience providing technical leadership, guidance and assurance within an engineering environment.
- Civil/Structural Engineering degree.
- Incorporated Engineer (or equivalent experience).

- Previous experience working within a nuclear or similar high-hazard environment.
- Familiarity with safety case development techniques, e.g. HAZID/HAZOP studies.
- Chartered Engineer (or equivalent experience).
- Experience working within a Design Authority or similar technical assurance environment.
