Stantec is experiencing phenomenal growth in our UK & Ireland Water sector, and we are expanding our Northern Ireland team which is based in Belfast’s vibrant cathedral quarter.

We partner with clients like Northern Ireland Water on vital frameworks and our long history working with Scottish Water is advancing with Stantec operating as a primary designer for the multi-billion pound Scottish Water Enterprise.
About The Role
In this role, you will be at the heart of our technical delivery, taking ownership of complex engineering challenges and transforming client requirements into resilient, sustainable water infrastructure. While your primary focus will be on delivering critical local schemes across Northern Ireland, you will also have the unique opportunity to collaborate on major resilience and environmental improvement projects across the whole of the UK and Ireland, giving you exposure to a diverse range of high-profile engineering assets.
You will play a vital, hands-on role in our growing team—developing robust technical solutions, providing expert advice to clients, and ensuring our projects hit the highest benchmarks for quality, cost, and schedule performance. Working within agile, multi-disciplinary teams alongside process, structural, MEICA, and environmental specialists, you will help drive design excellence from early concept and feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.
Crucially, this is a highly collaborative role where you will build and foster long-term relationships with key external stakeholders, water utilities, and supply chain partners. - Driving Environmental Sustainability: Play a direct role in enhancing local ecosystems and river health by minimizing pollution risks, reducing carbon footprints in design, and implementing sustainable drainage and circular water solutions.
- Shaping Next-Generation Infrastructure: Directly influence how critical infrastructure is delivered across Northern Ireland and the UK during AMP8—helping modernize aging assets with smart, efficient, and innovative civil engineering solutions.
- Building Lasting Legacy: Leave a tangible, positive footprint on the environment and society, delivering essential public assets that will safely serve communities for generations to come.

About You
We are looking for individuals who embody our values of client focus and service excellence and have a passion for making a difference in the Water sector and have the following:
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a relevant subject.
- Experience working within the regulated water industry is an advantage, we would also look at transferrable skills from the infrastructure or energy sectors.
- You are chartered, or actively working toward chartered status (e.g., IEI, ICE, CIWEM).
- Knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure, networks, and treatment processes.
- Experience in areas such as Clean Water and Wastewater Treatment, and Trunk Mains and Large Diameter Pipeline Design.
