Senior Civil Engineer

SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER – WATER & INFRASTRUCTURE

London | Hybrid working (2 days per week from home)

At GHD, we’re committed to creating a sustainable future for our communities. As we continue to grow our Water and Infrastructure capability in the UK, we’re looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our London team and play a key role in delivering technically excellent, multi‑disciplinary projects across the water and industrial sectors.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you’ll contribute to the successful delivery of projects from feasibility through to detailed design, working closely with Project Managers, Design Managers and technical specialists across the business. You’ll take ownership of smaller projects or discrete elements of larger schemes, while also supporting the development of junior engineers.

This role offers exposure to a wide variety of projects, including water and wastewater treatment works, pipelines, pumping stations and associated civil and structural infrastructure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and deliver civil engineering design from feasibility to detailed design, including calculations and technical inputs
  • Manage and coordinate the preparation of technical drawings, reports and documentation
  • Support the delivery of projects to budget, programme and quality targets
  • Take responsibility for smaller projects or defined elements of larger schemes
  • Assist with financial and commercial management of engineering commissions
  • Mentor and supervise junior engineers, supporting technical development and knowledge sharing
  • Apply relevant British Standards, water industry standards and GHD best practice
  • Work collaboratively within multi‑disciplinary design teams to deliver best‑for‑project outcomes
  • Contribute to a strong safety, quality and performance culture

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
