Position

We’re currently looking for a Civil Engineer to provide their expertise in drainage and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) to support the delivery of both current and upcoming pipeline civil infrastructure projects within our Belfast team.

Requirements

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Civil Engineer with Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography or other related field
  • Ideally candidate working towards chartership with Engineers Ireland, ICE or CIWEM
  • Minimum of 3 years design consultancy experience – Project Engineer / Senior Engineer
  • Competence in the use of Hydraulic modelling – first preference, Causeway Flow, however proficient in MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage would be satisfactory should they be willing to transfer their skillset to Causeway Flow.
  • Experience in drainage design including Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS).
  • Ability to use AutoDesk suite e.g. AutoCAD and have a Civils knowledge of the CDM Regulations
  • Belfast based / surrounding area

Key Accountabilities:

  • Design surface and subsurface drainage systems, including culverts, retention ponds, swales, and storm sewers.
  • Use hydraulic and hydrological models to analyse water flow and drainage capacity.
  • Integrate sustainable drainage solutions (SuDS) like permeable pavements and green roofs.
  • Ensure designs meet local government and environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate with contractors, surveyors, and environmental engineers.
  • Use Autodesk Suite e.g. AutoCAD and apply Civils knowledge of the CDM regulations for designs.
  • Use hydrological modelling software’s, including Causeway Flow for hydraulic simulations and calculations.
