Middlemore has partnered with a specialist insurance business who are seeking an experienced Senior Claims Adjuster to manage a portfolio of large and complex claims across all specialty lines of business.

Reporting to the Head of Claims, you will take ownership of claims from first notification through to settlement, ensuring they are investigated, reserved, negotiated and resolved accurately, promptly, fairly and commercially. You will work closely with underwriting, actuarial, operations and finance colleagues, while engaging with clients, brokers, capacity providers, loss adjusters and legal advisers.

Key responsibilities

  • Review policy wordings and assess coverage to determine the appropriate claims response.
  • Develop and maintain claims strategies and flowlines for significant matters.
  • Handle claims within delegated authority limits, escalating contentious or higher-value issues appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate claims records, files, reserves and diary systems.
  • Prepare concise written reports and provide regular updates on material losses.
  • Support internal and external reporting, including monthly claims bordereaux for capacity providers.
  • Build effective relationships with underwriters, actuaries, finance, operations, clients, brokers and external service providers.
  • Assist with the development and oversight of a panel of loss adjusters, legal advisers and other service providers.
  • Resolve internal and external claims queries promptly and effectively.
  • Identify opportunities to improve claims processes, controls and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to management reporting and the wider development of the claims function.
  • Mentor and support less experienced members of the claims team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
