Senior Clerical Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be a part of the Neurosurgery Department as a Band 3 Senior Clerical Officer.

The position requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, confidentiality, and a compassionate, patient-centred approach.

Purpose of the Role

To provide leadership and line management to the Neurosurgery outpatient administrative team, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, efficient and patient-focused service.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the day-to-day management of administrative processes, staff and clinic coordination.
• Ensure compliance with Trust policies and national access targets, including RTT.
• Independent decision-making, problem-solving, and the ability to respond dynamically to service pressures.
• Supervise the outpatient administrative team, providing day-to-day operational leadership and support.
• Allocate and prioritise workloads across the team to meet operational demands and deadlines.
• Support workforce management including annual leave, sickness absence, and return to work processes in line with STH Trust policy.
• Support team members through service changes, including implementation of and transition to new processes, ensuring new ways of working are communicated clearly, adopted consistently, and embedded across the team.
• Support Clerical Officers with escalated operational or patient-related issues; providing guidance, resolution, and onward escalation where necessary.
