Roles and Responsibilities

Support the Client Development Manager (CDM) in the implementation of the Technology, Consumer & Sport (TCS) sector strategy, helping to deliver the group’s strategic marketing, relationship development and business planning objectives.

Support the CDM on developing, reviewing and updating business planning and budgeting materials, participating in meetings, producing notes, amending documents and following up on action points.

Support the CDM maintain a clear overview of TCS priorities, upcoming activity, partner leads, agreed actions and progress against objectives, including preparing meeting materials, producing notes and following up on next steps.

Keeping track of all the major case successes and developments, new clients and instructions, reporting back to the teams at regular team meetings and managing the matter collation process.

Supporting the CDMs on the targeting and pipeline process by maintaining priority client and prospect lists, tracking relationship activity, coordinating follow-up and helping partners progress agreed opportunities.

Lead on selected TCS relationship initiatives, including sector campaigns and follow-up actions designed to support growth across Technology, Consumer and Sport. Work closely with the TCS campaign leads and the CDM on delivering the TCS business plans.

Collaborate with the wider Client Development team to identify cross-selling opportunities, growth areas and priority targets that support both the TCS sector plan and wider firm objectives.

Act as the point person for CD budget tracking for the campaigns within the TCS sector focus group, working alongside our CDM to ensure that campaigns and the wider divisions are keeping to pre-agreed budgets. The Senior Client Development Executive (SCDE) will also be expected to analyse expenses to track CD activity against business objectives, identifying any areas for improvement.

Own the process for capturing, updating and organising TCS credentials, case studies, matter highlights, client quotes, testimonials, rankings and sector proof points, ensuring they are easy to access and suitable for use in pitches, proposals, directories and client conversations.

Play a leading role in TCS-related tenders, pitches, proposals and credentials, from initial strategy and research through to content drafting, document production and final delivery, ensuring materials are commercial, tailored and relevant to the opportunity.

Provide guidance to the Client Development Executive on day-to-day pitch documents, credentials, mailing lists, sector updates and other TCS deliverables.

Support the development of InterAction, our contact management system (e.g., mailing list cleansing) and be a ‘champion’ for the system within the rest of the firm.

Produce, distribute, analyse and report on digital newsletters, legal updates and other direct mailings, working with the CRM team and with the Client Development Executive (CDE).

Creating and maintaining internet and intranet content for your sectors/services.

With overview of the CDM, lead on the legal directories and award submissions process, consulting with partners and the research teams to ensure that submissions are in the correct format and delivered on time.

Support the planning, delivery and reporting of TCS campaigns and client engagement activity, including targeted events, roundtables, panel sessions, seminars, webinars, podcasts, newsletters, legal updates and client hospitality.

Supporting the CDMs, working with fee earners and our PR team, on the coordination of PR activity for your sector/service groups.

Developing, populating (rankings, quotes, testimonials, deals etc.), collating and reporting on key information for your sectors/services and ensuring they are stored in the relevant repositories (e.g., PitchPoint & HighQ) and available quickly and easily for proposals, collateral etc.

Undertake ad hoc research on markets, sectors, industries, organisations and individuals of relevance to specific business development initiatives in relation to technology, consumer & sport.

Contribute to wider firmwide Client Development projects and priorities where relevant, particularly where they support sector growth, campaign delivery, client relationship development or improved ways of working. Comply with all relevant legal and regulatory obligations including the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Standards and Regulations, and Principles.

Skills and experience
Essential
- Experience in a legal environment is essential.
Desirable
- IT savvy and computer literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Some knowledge of CRM systems (preferably InterAction).
- A good understanding of and interest in the three firm-wide sectors that the team supports (Technology, Consumer & Sport).
- Good academic record.

- A proven track record of delivering/achieving results and targets.
- A quick learner who is able to hit the ground running.
- A strong team player.
- Able to adapt and respond at short notice.
