Senior Client Manager Accountancy Practice

Location: Cross Hills, Keighley
Salary: £65,000-£80,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
Working Arrangement: Office-based

About the Role

An established accountancy practice based in Cross Hills, near Keighley, is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Client Manager to join its team.

This is a senior role suited to a ACA or ACCA qualified accountant with a strong background in UK accountancy practice and significant experience managing client relationships, reviewing accounts and supervising staff.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 15 years' recent experience within a UK accountancy practice and will be confident dealing directly with business owners and senior-level clients, managing their own portfolio and overseeing the work of other accountants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of clients, acting as a senior point of contact for accounting and tax matters
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, including business owners and senior stakeholders
  • Supervise and support a team of at least four accountants
  • Review the work of colleagues, ensuring a consistently high standard of accuracy and compliance
  • Prepare and review accounts from both incomplete records and computerized accounting records
  • Prepare company and personal tax returns
  • Prepare accounts for a varied portfolio of businesses, including sole traders, limited companies, partnerships and LLPs
  • Prepare and review management accounts
  • Liaise with clients regarding accounting, tax and general practice matters
  • Attend client meetings and visits where required
  • Manage workloads effectively and ensure deadlines are met
  • Support the wider practice with ad-hoc accounting and client projects
  • Identify issues and use initiative to provide practical solutions to clients and colleagues

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • ACA, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification
  • A minimum of 15 years' recent experience within a UK-based accountancy practice
  • Strong experience in accounts preparation and review
  • Proven experience managing and developing client relationships
  • Previous experience supervising or managing accounting staff
  • Strong management accounts experience
  • Excellent knowledge of accounts preparation for sole traders, limited companies, partnerships and LLPs
  • The ability to prepare and review accounts to a high professional standard
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to deadlines
  • A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and use initiative
  • Good working knowledge of accounting software; experience with CCH, Sage and/or Xero would be advantageous
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
