Senior Client Manager - Accountancy
Cardiff £65,000-£80,000
There comes a point where being given another twenty clients isn't really progression. This opportunity offers something broader.
A highly profitable independent firm is creating additional senior capacity as part of a significant period of growth and investment. The Senior Client Manager - Accountancy will work closely with an established director who is already operating at capacity, creating genuine scope to take ownership rather than simply provide another layer of review. The client portfolio ranges from entrepreneurial start-ups through to established owner-managed businesses approaching £15m turnover.
The interesting bit
Clients here expect advice. A business owner might come into a meeting with a technical accounting issue, a restructuring question or simply something they haven't encountered before and ask, "How do we deal with this?" You'll need enough technical depth to work through the problem rather than immediately pass it somewhere else. That's particularly important for this Senior Client Manager - Accountancy position.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
