Job Title: Senior Client Portfolio Manager

Location: Harrow, North-West London (Hybrid)
Salary: Competitive + Performance Bonus + Benefits
Contract: Full-time, Permanent (UK based)

🏢 The Opportunity

Let's be honest: most senior accounting roles are about churning out work, hitting impossible billing targets, and hiding behind spreadsheets.

This is not one of those roles.

Metta Accountants is a fast-growing, digital-first practice based in Harrow. We are moving beyond the traditional "compliance" model to become a true financial partner for our clients.

Our client base has grown up with us. Alongside our owner-managed limited companies, we now act for larger companies with group structures, UK subsidiaries of overseas parents, and clients with genuine cross-border complexity, particularly UK–India and wider NRI matters. That means consolidated accounts, audit-ready files, and technical questions that don't have a textbook answer.

We are looking for an ambitious Senior Client Portfolio Manager to lead our Accounts department.

This is not a background role. You will work directly alongside the Founder as the Operational Lead, taking full ownership of client relationships, technical quality, and team development. If you are an experienced assistant manager or manager looking to step up, shape the future of a growing firm, and be recognised as a key strategic decision-maker, this is the platform to achieve it.

📋 Key Responsibilities

  1. Portfolio Management & Advisory

    • Take full ownership of a diverse portfolio of limited companies and groups.
    • Be the face of "Peace of Mind" for our clients. You will handle high-level queries regarding financial accounts/audit matters, remuneration strategies and business growth, ensuring clients understand their numbers without the jargon.
    • Proactively identify tax-saving opportunities.
  2. Audit, Groups & Cross-Border Reporting

    • Manage the preparation and review of consolidated statutory accounts under FRS 102 (and IFRS where applicable), including acquisitions, intercompany eliminations, and minority interests.
    • Prepare and review audit-ready files for clients meeting the audit requirements: lead schedules, reconciliations, supporting workings, and disclosure checklists that stand up to scrutiny first time.
    • Act as the firm's principal point of contact for external auditors managing the audit timetable, responding to queries, and resolving technical points on our clients' behalf.
    • Handle cross-border matters confidently: UK subsidiaries of overseas parents, overseas subsidiaries of UK groups, foreign currency translation, double tax treaty positions, permanent establishment risk, and UK–India/NRI issues.
    • Advise on group structuring, associated companies, and the interaction between corporation tax, VAT groups, and consolidated reporting.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  1. Team Leadership & Quality Control

    • Oversee the workflow of the accounts department, ensuring all statutory deadlines are met.
    • Review year-end accounts, consolidations and VAT returns prepared by the team, providing technical feedback to improve standards.
    • Mentor junior staff, helping them progress from compliance processing to advisory and group-level work.
  2. Operational Strategy

    • Assist the Founder in refining and documenting internal processes to improve efficiency and profitability.
    • Champion the use of cloud technology (Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent, Briefcase, practice management software) and AI tooling to automate routine tasks.

✅ About You

We are looking for a fully qualified (ACCA/ACA) accountant with a minimum of 8 years' experience in accounts and audit space, including at least 2 years managing your own portfolio and a team, and demonstrable exposure to audit and group consolidation work.

You will need:

  • Hands-on experience preparing or reviewing consolidated group accounts under FRS 102 or IFRS.
  • Practical audit experience whether gained in an audit team or by preparing and defending audit files from the accounts side.
  • Comfort with cross-border and multi-entity structures; UK–India or wider international experience is a strong advantage.

And you will be someone who:

  • Craves Ownership. You want to run your portfolio like it's your own business. You take pride in accuracy and sleep better knowing a job was done properly. You are a problem solver who thinks beyond the obvious, this is essential.
  • Loves Tech. You aren't scared of AI or automation; you use them to buy back time so you can be more productive and stay current with the tools in the market. You can show us where you've integrated systems to streamline work.
  • Leads with Empathy. You understand that behind every limited company is a person trying to build a life. You can explain complex tax rules in plain English and educate the client as part of the process, delivering five-star service in every interaction.
  • Is a Natural Mentor. You will guide our junior team members and coordinate with colleagues working remotely, ensuring the "Metta Standard" is maintained. You are an inclusive leader who knows how to get the best out of people especially when they are struggling.
