Job Description

The successful candidates will work within the Burns Unit and be involved in both elective and emergency work. This is an un-banded post and will cover weekday activities within the burns service.

This will be the first time that a Burns Fellowship is offered at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and the role will include working within a busy, dynamic, and friendly department and the fellow will be exposed to a wide variety of burns cases and their ongoing reconstructive management.

We encourage a learning environment, with regular MDT and departmental meetings. We will expect and encourage your involvement in audit, research, and teaching and the successful candidate will present and publish such work as carried out in the Unit.

This is not a training post and does not have specific Royal College or Postgraduate approval. This post would suit a senior plastics/burns trainee who would like to gain further experience in this specialist field. We would welcome applicants from the UK or overseas.

FRCS (Plastics) is essential at the time of starting fellowship.

This role will involve the supervised management of burns and plastic surgery patients in both outpatient clinics and operating theatre settings, providing specialist assessment and treatment as part of the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will receive training in the use of laser therapy for the management of burn scars and will be responsible for presenting cases at weekly MDT meetings. Additional duties include conducting ward rounds to review inpatients and support their ongoing care, contributing to burns surgery research studies, and providing teaching, education, and support to members of the burns team.
