Job Description
About the Role
This is a replacement post. The remit of the postholder/s will be to work within the multi-disciplinary team providing and further developing care for patients within the service. In addition, the individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the Care Group while having a significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff.
Job Details
This post brings the complement of SCF equivalents within the Department of Orthopaedics to 11. There are Five Senior Clinical Fellows within the trauma service and two attached to each of the firms.
This post is to work primarily with Mr. Groom, Miss Phillips, Mr. Lahoti and Mr Saini. Cross-covering within the Limb Reconstruction Firm is necessary and the appointed candidate is expected to be flexible in their weekly duties. The King’s Limb Reconstruction Service is now well established and takes patients from South East England, and from the Armed Forces. The Service also supports the Major Trauma Centre.

There is a well-established multi-disciplinary team with a meeting every Monday morning. In addition there is a Bone Infection MDT.
Responsibilities
The workload is difficult to characterize and continues to develop. It includes:
- Fracture non-union, both aseptic and infected
- Acute complex trauma
- Malunion
- Congenital deformity and leg length discrepancy
- Osteomyelitis
- Lower limb joint arthroplasty
- Paediatric Orthopaedics
Inevitably many different techniques including Ilizarov, Taylor Spatial Frame, MaxFrame, LRS and Lengthening intramedullary nails are used within this service.
