ICON plc

ICON plc is a world-leading healthcare intelligence and clinical research organization. We’re proud to foster an inclusive environment driving innovation and excellence, and we welcome you to join us on our mission to shape the future of clinical development.

We are currently seeking a Senior Clinical Pharmacologist (Director, Clinical Pharmacology) to join our growing client-dedicated team at ICON.

This is a unique opportunity to become an embedded strategic partner within a leading global pharmaceutical organization, influencing development programs from early research through registration.

As a Senior Clinical Pharmacologist, you will join a highly collaborative client-dedicated team, partnering with scientific and clinical leaders to support clinical pharmacology strategy across programs from early development through registration. You will apply your expertise in clinical pharmacology, biopharmaceutics, and model-informed drug development to drive informed decision-making and accelerate the development of innovative therapies.

What You Will Do

  • Lead clinical pharmacology strategies across early and late-phase drug development programs.
  • Apply model-informed drug development principles to support dose selection, patient population strategy, biomarkers, and endpoint optimization.
  • Partner with Pharmacometricians to develop and execute PK/PD modeling and simulation strategies.
  • Contribute to translational medicine initiatives, preclinical study design, and First-in-Human (FIH) studies, including SAD and MAD dose selection.
  • Provide clinical pharmacology expertise to cross-functional teams, governance discussions, and key development decision points.
  • Support regulatory submissions and responses to health authority queries.
  • Drive collaboration across preclinical, clinical, regulatory, and quantitative sciences teams to advance development programs.
  • Stay current with emerging innovations in clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, biopharmaceutics, and quantitative drug development.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
