About Barnet Council
Barnet is a borough with much to be proud of. Our excellent schools, vibrant town centres, vast green spaces and diverse communities all help make it a great place to live and work. As a council we want to build on these strengths as we move into the future. We are growing and developing as an organisation to meet the challenges facing our borough and we are committed to working with partner organisations and residents to make Barnet even better. As an organisation, our staff are committed to Our Values: Learning to Improve, Caring, Inclusive, Collaborative – which drive everything we do.
About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an existing staff member to join BICS as a Senior Clinical Practitioner (CWP/MHST Supervisor) within our South Hub multidisciplinary team, with potential for an additional role to become available in another hub. This substantive post is currently being covered through a secondment and will become permanent when the secondment ends in January 2027. As part of the wider multidisciplinary team, the post holder will work collaboratively across the Child and Family Early Help hub along with their BICS team colleagues, with a key role in providing supervision.
The successful candidate would provide clinical supervision and line management to CWPs (Children and Young People’s Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners) and/or EMHPs (Education Mental Health Practitioners) either in training and/or qualified, as well as supporting the existing team in establishing strong working relationships both with the schools in the borough and across community settings. In addition, they will hold their own small clinical caseload and act as a link practitioner for an agreed number of schools.
We would welcome applications from existing staff who have already completed the Anna Freud Centre CWP/EMHP Supervisor training course awarded by Higher Education England.
For those currently undertaking the course, please note that appointment to a permanent, fully qualified role, is subject to successful completion of the Supervision: Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Services PG Cert.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
