Band 8a Senior Clinical Psychologist - Fixed Term 12 months Ending 01 November 2027
We are seeking a Senior Clinical Psychologist with an interest in working with people with complex mental health difficulties associated with long-term physical health conditions, Bariatrics or persistent pain to join our Clinical Health Psychology team.
The post-holder will undertake individual and group work, consultation & supervision. The post offers opportunity to develop further educational and leadership skills such as joint referrals management and service development tasks alongside the Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
The team currently work closely with the Tier 4 Bariatric service based at UHNM & offer psychological assessments as part of their pathway.
You will be joining a growing and thriving clinical health psychology department, with strong links with the University Hospital of North Midlands and MPFT. There will be opportunity to get involved in projects related to service development and consultation across the various service areas for interested candidates.
We will consider applications from people whose main area of work since qualification has been in an adult mental health setting if they can demonstrate a good understanding and interest in the impact of physical health conditions.

The team will support applicants for Band 7 clinical psychologists. Suitable support & training will be offered for the right candidate.
To deliver a highly specialist service to outpatients as an integral member of the Clinical Health Psychology team consisting of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Psychologists and Psychological Therapists. To provide psychological assessment, formulation and intervention to individuals and groups in order to facilitate emotional adjustment and promote improved quality of life.
The post involves working with people experiencing psychological distress and complex mental health difficulties associated with living with persistent pain, long-term health conditions and individuals undergoing assessment and preparation for bariatric surgery.
Consultation, referral screening, pathway / service development, clinical supervision, training and risk management will form part of the duties.
