Senior Practitioner Psychologist in Staff Wellbeing (1.0WTE, 8a)
The Staff Wellbeing and Support Service is seeking a Senior Practitioner Psychologist to provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to staff within the Health Board. This is an exciting new post, with significant opportunity to develop and deliver valued and inclusive support to staff.
You will be key in supporting our staff to live valued lives both within and outside of work, working in collaboration with people who access our service to formulate complex difficulties and provide tailored brief psychological support. Where required, this support will be trauma-focused, with part of this role offering trauma therapy to staff who have experienced workplace trauma.
We are a small but dedicated team, and we value flexibility, consistency and support for our own wellbeing as well as the Health Board values of compassion, openness and respect. We have good connections with the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme, and welcome trainees into our service.

Please note that this role is a pan-BCU role; you will be required to travel across the BCUHB footprint to work.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will undertake a range of assessments with staff and, based on this assessment, will provide intervention or signpost to appropriate services. There will be a significant requirement to promote psychological thinking across the Health Board, particularly with staff groups who may not see the need to engage in initiatives around their own wellbeing. Supervision of others, delivery of training, and service development will also form an integral part of this role.
We are passionate about supporting staff with trauma, and embedding reflective practice into the Health Board. Therefore, the post holder will have opportunities to help us to continue developing these two important areas.

The post holder will also be a member of the BCUHB Psychology & Psychological Services for Physical Health Department, which is a supportive, friendly and growing department of Clinical Psychologists working within physical health services across BCUHB and has strong links with the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme. Continuing professional development and research is actively supported within the department. This post provides the ideal opportunity to gain experience in applying clinical psychology within a highly specialist setting.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
Provides a highly specialist Psychology service to staff members within BCUHB, managing a complex caseload of people who may be experiencing significant psychological distress.
Undertakes comprehensive assessments, formulations and evidence-based interventions for staff members within the setting of BCUHB.
Works autonomously to make complex clinical decisions, manage risk, and communicate sensitive information.
Collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to support integrated care.

Contributes to service development, audit and research activity, and delivers teaching, training and clinical supervision to trainee and assistant psychologists where relevant.
Maintains accurate records, adheres to professional standards, and participates in clinical governance and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications & Registration
Essential criteria
- HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
- Honours Degree in Psychology
Desirable criteria
- Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
- Ability to speak Welsh
- Post-doctoral training in one of two trauma-focused interventions recognised by the World Health Organisation (that is, EMDR or TF-CBT)
Post-Qualification Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience working as a qualified Practitioner Psychologist
- Experience of providing teaching and/or supervision to others
Desirable criteria
- Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts
- Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care
Research, Audit & Evidence-Based Practice
Essential Criteria
- Doctoral-level research knowledge; ability to apply evidence-based practice; experience of clinical audit / service evaluation
Desirable criteria
- Publication / research involvement; leading audit / service improvement projects
Clinical Skills
Essential criteria
- Psychological assessment, formulation, intervention; psychometric skills
Desirable criteria
- Experience of having worked in staff wellbeing services
MDT working
