Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and enthusiastic Band 3 Clinical Support Worker to join our dedicated Stroke Unit team. The successful post holder will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to individuals recovering from stroke, supporting their rehabilitation and promoting independence wherever possible.
Working under the direction of registered nurses and therapists, you will assist patients with activities of daily living, mobility, rehabilitation programmes, and routine clinical observations while ensuring dignity, safety, and wellbeing are maintained at all times. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to support patients throughout their recovery journey, contributing to the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrate a caring and empathetic approach, and be committed to providing outstanding support to patients and their families in a busy and rewarding clinical environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills and experience within stroke care and rehabilitation while making a meaningful difference to patient outcomes.

What You Will Bring To The Role
As a Band 3 Clinical Support Worker, you will:
- Provide high-quality, compassionate, and person-centred care to patients recovering from stroke.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal care, nutrition, hydration, and mobility.
- Be competent and confident in supporting the care of patients within both the Hyperacute Stroke Unit (HASU) and acute stroke setting, responding appropriately to the needs of patients during the early stages of stroke care.
- Support patients with rehabilitation programmes and therapeutic activities as directed by registered nurses and therapists.
- Undertake and accurately record clinical observations, escalating any concerns appropriately.
- Assist with moving and handling patients safely, using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Encourage and promote patient independence, dignity, and wellbeing throughout their recovery journey.
- Recognise signs of deterioration and promptly escalate concerns to the registered nurse or relevant clinician.
- Support the delivery of timely investigations, monitoring, and patient care to meet stroke pathway standards.
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Support patients who may have communication, cognitive, or physical difficulties following a stroke.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in line with Trust policies and procedures.
- Support, supervise, and act as a role model for Band 2 Healthcare Support Workers, providing guidance and sharing knowledge within the clinical environment.
- Assist in the induction, training, and development of new staff and students, contributing to a positive learning environment.
- Contribute to creating a safe, clean, and comfortable ward environment.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control, safeguarding, confidentiality, health and safety, and Trust policies at all times.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, therapists, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe and effective patient care.
- Participate in training, development, and quality improvement activities to enhance patient care and support.
