Role Overview
We have partnered with a leading alternative credit manager looking to hire a Senior CLO Analyst within its London-based credit team in the near future. We are beginning informal, confidential discussions with candidates ahead of a formal search.
Our client has an established credit investment platform, a collaborative and long-tenured senior team, and a history of developing new investment capabilities internally. The anticipated hire would help build out CLO investing as an additional part of the team’s broader credit investment approach.
The focus would be European CLOs, primarily mezzanine tranches around BBB and BB. Working closely with the portfolio managers, the analyst would evaluate opportunities across managers and vintages, assess the underlying collateral, and identify attractive relative value, both between CLO investments and against the team’s wider credit opportunities.
Importantly, this would be a research-led analyst seat, not a portfolio manager role or a standalone CLO fund. The emphasis would be on developing investment views and pitching actionable trade ideas, with capital deployed within the existing credit portfolios as opportunities arise. The precise scope of the role would be shaped around the selected candidate’s experience and ideas for developing the capability.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- CLO Analysis: Evaluate European CLO tranches across managers and vintages, focusing primarily on BBB and BB mezzanine and assessing the underlying leveraged loan collateral.
- Relative Value: Compare CLO investment opportunities with one another and with the team’s broader corporate credit strategies and other fixed income investments.
- Investment Recommendations: Develop and pitch actionable CLO trade ideas, working closely alongside portfolio managers to inform investment decisions.
- Capability Development: Help shape the team’s approach to CLO analysis and tranche selection, contributing to the development of CLO investing within an established credit platform.

- Experience: Approximately 8-15 years of relevant experience in CLOs or structured credit. The team is flexible on exact tenure, with the emphasis on analytical depth and suitability for a research-led seat.
- Background: Ideally, early sell-side CLO research or structuring experience, followed by buy-side CLO analysis or tranche investing at a real money or alternative manager.
- Investment Expertise: Strong experience evaluating European CLO tranches across managers and vintages, particularly BBB and BB mezzanine.
- Technical Knowledge: A detailed understanding of CLO structures, documentation and underlying leveraged loan collateral, with the ability to translate analysis into clear investment recommendations.
- Cultural Fit: A collaborative, low-ego approach and a genuine interest in working alongside portfolio managers to identify investment opportunities, rather than pursuing an immediate standalone risk-taking mandate.
- Additional Experience: Broader corporate credit experience or CDS/Derivatives experience would be a plus, but not a requirement.
