Description
As our Senior Cloud & Network Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in the design, implementation, support and continuous improvement of our IT infrastructure. This is a hands-on senior technical position with broad exposure across Azure cloud services, enterprise networking, infrastructure, endpoint management, security, data platforms and automation.
Working closely with our Technical Manager and Solution Architect, you'll help deliver secure, scalable and resilient technology solutions that support the business today while driving our future cloud, infrastructure and data strategy.
This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across our wider group, external technology partners and key business stakeholders. You'll be confident translating complex technical concepts into clear, practical solutions, influencing decisions and building strong relationships across all levels of the organisation.
As a senior member of the team, you'll also play an important role in mentoring and developing junior engineers, championing best practices and helping to strengthen technical capability across the wider IT function.

This role is based hybrid from our site in Cradley Heath
Key Responsibilities
Azure Cloud & Infrastructure
- Design, implement and support Azure cloud infrastructure and services.
- Manage Azure environments, including security, governance, monitoring, networking and cost optimisation.
- Administer key Azure services including Virtual Machines, Storage, SQL Database, Backup, Monitor, Key Vault and Virtual Networks.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform and maintain deployment pipelines through Azure DevOps.
- Drive cloud security, platform resilience and standardisation initiatives.
- Lead and support cloud and infrastructure projects across the business.
Enterprise Networking
- Design, maintain and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure across multiple sites.
- Configure and support switching, routing, WAN connectivity, VPNs, firewalls, Wi-Fi and hybrid cloud networking solutions.
- Diagnose and resolve network performance, security and connectivity issues.
- Support network security architecture, access controls and segmentation strategies.
- Maintain network documentation, standards and operational procedures.

Data Platforms & Integration
- Design, develop and support cloud-based data and integration solutions.
- Build and maintain Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Azure Functions and Azure Data Lake services.
- Support the ingestion, transformation and integration of business data.
- Implement monitoring, governance and security controls across data platforms.
- Enable reporting, analytics and integration capabilities across the wider business.
Endpoint Management & Security
- Administer Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Entra ID environments.
- Manage endpoint compliance, device configuration and security policies.
- Support Cyber Essentials and wider cyber security improvement initiatives.
- Perform vulnerability remediation and technical risk mitigation activities.
- Maintain secure access controls, identity governance and privileged access management.
Automation & Operations
- Develop automation solutions using PowerShell and related technologies.
- Improve operational efficiency through automation and process optimisation.
- Implement proactive monitoring, alerting and observability solutions.
- Lead technical investigations, root cause analysis and problem resolution.
- Act as a senior escalation point for cloud, infrastructure and networking issues.
- Contribute to technical standards, documentation and best practices.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
We're looking for a highly capable technical professional who can combine deep technical expertise with strong communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience designing, implementing and supporting Microsoft Azure environments.
- Strong knowledge of Azure infrastructure, networking, security, governance and monitoring.
- Experience managing hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments.
- Strong enterprise networking expertise, including switching, routing, WAN connectivity, VPNs and firewall technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Entra ID, Single Sign-On (SSO) and Enterprise App Registrations.
- Experience developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform.
- Strong PowerShell scripting and automation capabilities.
- Experience working with Azure DevOps and modern deployment practices.
- SQL Server administration and support experience.
- Strong understanding of cyber security principles, controls and best practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work confidently across cloud, infrastructure, networking, security and data platforms.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience mentoring, coaching or supporting the development of other technical team members.
