As our Senior Cloud Engineer, you will:

• Lead the design, development and evolution of a scalable data platform, Driving data engineering excellence across the organisation.
• Translate business, security and technical requirements into innovative platform solutions that deliver value.
• Make key technical decisions to ensure platforms are scalable, secure, resilient and maintainable.
• Champion best practices in coding, automation, Infrastructure as Code, testing and documentation.
• Provide technical leadership through coaching, design reviews and collaborative problem-solving.
• Build and maintain automated deployment, testing and operational capabilities to improve reliability and speed.
• Create reusable tools, templates and self-service solutions that enhance engineering efficiency.
• Partner with product and delivery teams to successfully deliver complex platform initiatives.
• Ensure platform performance, availability and security through monitoring, optimisation and proactive issue resolution.
• Lead troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
• Embed security, governance and data management best practices across the platform.
• Optimise platform usage and cloud costs while exploring emerging technologies to drive innovation.

What skills & qualifications you will need

• Significant experience engineering and supporting cloud-based or enterprise data platforms in a complex organisation.
• Strong practical knowledge of cloud platform services, data storage, compute, networking, identity and access controls.
• Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration automation using relevant tools and languages.
• Experience designing and maintaining continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
• A good understanding of data platform architecture, including ingestion, transformation, orchestration, storage and consumption services.
• Experience engineering for security, resilience, monitoring, recoverability, performance and operational support.
• Previous experience using source control, automated testing, peer review and documented engineering standards.
• The ability to lead technical design, explain trade-offs and influence stakeholders across engineering and delivery teams.
• Previously coached or mentored engineers and assuring the quality of technical work.
• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Relevant degree, technical qualification or equivalent practical experience.
