Senior Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer – VMware / Azure

UK | Home-Based | Permanent

We're working with an established UK technology services business that's looking to strengthen its Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering team with an experienced Senior Engineer.

This is a hands-on, project-focused role, working across VMware, Microsoft Infrastructure and Azure, delivering infrastructure migrations, cloud transformation and complex customer implementations.

Rather than focusing on day-to-day BAU support, you'll be involved in taking projects from technical discovery and planning through to implementation, migration, testing and handover.

You'll work closely with Architects, Project Managers and Engineering teams, taking ownership of technical delivery and helping customers modernise their infrastructure.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The opportunity

You'll be joining a team delivering a wide range of customer infrastructure and cloud projects, with exposure to both established enterprise technologies and modern hybrid cloud platforms

There's plenty of variety across VMware, Microsoft and Azure, with the opportunity to take technical ownership, contribute to engineering standards and support less experienced engineers.

Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation, vSAN, NSX or Azure Landing Zones would be advantageous, but isn't essential.

If you're a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Cloud Engineer or Technical Consultant who enjoys project delivery and wants to work across a broader range of technologies, I'd be keen to speak.
