Senior Cloud Network Engineer (Azure / Terraform / Networking)

Location: Northampton

Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: From £55,000 DOE

Type: Hybrid with Weekly Office Attendance

Overview

A leading UK organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Cloud Network Engineer to design, build and support secure, scalable cloud networking solutions across Microsoft Azure and multi-cloud environments.

This is a senior hands-on engineering role with responsibility across cloud network architecture, security, performance and reliability. You'll work closely with Cloud, Infrastructure and Security teams while using Infrastructure as Code and automation to improve the consistency and scalability of the wider cloud environment.

The role is particularly suited to an experienced Network Engineer who has moved heavily into Azure and wants ownership of complex cloud networking challenges while still remaining technically hands-on.

  • Design, implement and support Azure and multi-cloud network solutions
  • Manage Azure VNets, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateways and Azure Firewalls
  • Design secure, resilient and scalable network architectures
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise cloud network performance
  • Automate infrastructure deployment using Terraform and Ansible
  • Support network security, governance and technical standards
  • Work with TCP/IP, DNS, BGP, routing and firewall technologies
  • Integrate networking infrastructure into CI/CD and automation processes
  • Collaborate closely with Cloud, Infrastructure and Security teams
  • Provide technical leadership and promote cloud networking best practices

Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial network engineering experience
  • Strong hands-on Microsoft Azure networking experience
  • Experience with Azure VNet, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway and Azure Firewall
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, BGP, routing, firewalls and network security
  • Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform and/or Ansible
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and infrastructure automation
  • Scripting experience with PowerShell, Python or Bash
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills

Desirable

  • AZ-700, AZ-104 or AZ-305 certification
  • Kubernetes / AKS networking experience
  • Knowledge of SD-WAN or SASE architectures
  • Experience within regulated environments
