Hands on platform engineering role within a scaling fintech
Remote | UK based applicants only with the correct right to work
Our client builds a data platform used by financial services firms to process and act on time sensitive market information at speed. The business is growing, engineering is scaling, and there is still plenty of opportunity to influence how the platform evolves.
We're looking for a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join a small, experienced engineering team and take genuine ownership across their AWS platform.
This is first and foremost a hands on platform engineering role. You'll work across AWS, EKS, Terraform, ArgoCD, GitOps and CI/CD, helping build, operate and improve the infrastructure behind a modern financial technology platform.
Security is embedded into the role rather than sitting separately from it. You don't need to be a dedicated Security Engineer, but you should understand how to build and operate secure cloud infrastructure and be comfortable turning security findings and requirements into practical engineering solutions.

This is a genuinely broad position within a small team. They need someone who can understand a problem, work out what needs doing and implement it, rather than operating within a narrow silo.
What you'll be doing
- Owning and improving production infrastructure across AWS
- Building, operating and improving Kubernetes environments, including EKS
- Developing infrastructure as code using Terraform
- Building and improving GitOps and CI/CD workflows using ArgoCD
- Troubleshooting platform and infrastructure issues across production environments
- Working across cloud security hardening, IAM, least privilege and access controls
- Improving security across pipelines, containers and cloud infrastructure
- Working with Wiz and the wider team to understand cloud security findings and turn them into practical remediation
- Working closely with software engineering and security to solve problems across traditional team boundaries
- Helping shape platform engineering practices as the engineering organisation continues to scale

What we're looking for
- Strong hands on AWS experience within production environments
- Strong production Kubernetes experience, with recent EKS exposure
- Deep hands on Terraform and infrastructure as code experience
- Genuine professional experience with ArgoCD and GitOps
- A practical understanding of cloud and infrastructure security, including IAM, least privilege, vulnerability management and container security
- Experience scripting or building tooling in Python, Go or similar
- Someone comfortable working as a senior individual contributor within a small engineering team
Nice to have
- A software engineering background alongside your platform experience
- Experience with Wiz or another CNAPP or CSPM platform
Salary: Up to £85,000 + 20% bonus and benefits
