A public sector organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join our Cloud Platforms team and play a key role in delivering strategic cloud transformation initiatives aligned to our Digital, Technology and Cyber Security strategies.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled Azure professional to work on large-scale cloud platform builds, application migrations, DevSecOps adoption and secure cloud services supporting critical government operations.
The Role
Reporting to the Programme Manager within the Cloud workstream, you will be responsible for designing, building and optimising secure Azure cloud environments while supporting the migration of applications and services into cloud platforms.
This is an initial 6-month contract based in Milton Keynes with hybrid working (3 days per week onsite, 2 days working from home). The daily rate for the role is up to £595 per day inside IR35 via an Umbrella company.
Due to the nature of the role the successful candidate will need to either hold SC clearance or be willing to undergo the clearance process to gain SC Clearance.

- Design, build and maintain Microsoft Azure services and infrastructure.
- Deliver cloud landing zones and platform services.
- Configure and optimise PaaS, IaaS and SaaS solutions.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and/or Bicep.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps toolchains.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, logging and operational support capabilities.
Cloud Migration & Modernisation
- Support application and infrastructure discovery activities.
- Conduct migration readiness assessments and application 5R assessments.
- Migrate legacy applications into Azure landing zones.
- Configure and operate Azure Migrate tooling.
- Support containerisation and cloud-native application adoption.
- Deliver hybrid cloud solutions and connectivity architecture.
Cloud Security & Compliance
- Apply Zero Trust principles across cloud platforms.
- Implement identity and access management controls.
- Configure security monitoring, logging and compliance controls.
- Ensure alignment with NCSC, GDS and UK Government security frameworks.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout delivery.

We are looking for candidates with proven experience delivering secure Azure cloud platforms and cloud migration programmes.
Essential
- Strong Microsoft Azure cloud engineering experience.
- Experience building and migrating applications and services to public cloud platforms.
- Infrastructure as Code expertise using Terraform and/or Bicep.
- Experience deploying and operating CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps toolchains.
- Strong understanding of Cloud Security, DevSecOps and Zero Trust Architecture.
- Experience with:
- Azure Networking
- Identity & Access Management
- Backup & Recovery
- Security Monitoring & Logging
- Cost Management & Tagging
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
- Knowledge of UK Government security frameworks and standards.
- Experience working within secure or highly regulated environments.
Migration & Cloud Native Technologies
- Experience with some or all of the following:
- Azure App Services
- Azure Functions
- Azure Logic Apps
- Azure Container Apps
- Kubernetes
- Serverless technologies
- Event-driven architectures
- Point-to-point VPN solutions
