Role: Staff Security Engineer
Location: Remote First
Salary: £90,000 - £110,000
Tech: AWS | GCP | Terraform | Python | Wiz | Cloudflare
What if security wasn't there to slow engineering down... but to make it better?
Our client is building one of the UK's most modern cloud security engineering functions, and we're looking for two Staff Security Engineers to help lead that journey.
This isn't a role where you'll spend your days reviewing tickets or writing documentation.
You'll own major security initiatives from concept through to production, building automation, Infrastructure as Code, and security controls that directly improve the security posture of a platform serving over four million homes across the UK.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Why join?
- Real autonomy - if you have an idea, you'll get the backing to build it.
- Huge impact - every security control you deliver has a measurable impact across a large-scale cloud platform.
- Security built by engineers - not governance. You'll write Terraform, build Python automation, and integrate security into the developer experience.
- Modern technology - AWS, GCP, Terraform, Python, Cloudflare, Wiz, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Work with one of the UK's strongest security engineering leaders - someone who came from software engineering and still enjoys being hands-on.
You'll be responsible for
- Leading security engineering initiatives end-to-end
- Building Terraform modules for cloud security tooling
- Developing Python automation
- Improving Cloudflare and WAF capabilities
- Embedding security into engineering workflows
- Threat modelling across AWS and GCP
- Working directly with engineering teams to make security an enabler, not a blocker
