About The Role

FDM is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloudflare Developer to join our team on a contractual basis for a key project within the public sector. This role offers the flexibility of remote work, with the option to be based in Leeds or London. The initial contract duration is four months, with the possibility of extension based on project requirements and performance. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance web applications leveraging the Cloudflare Developer Platform. This position requires a deep understanding of serverless architecture, edge computing, and full-stack development, with an emphasis on building globally distributed applications that meet stringent security and performance standards.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in developing and deploying applications primarily hosted on Cloudflare, with a portfolio of production applications.
  • Extensive expertise with Cloudflare Workers, including serverless functions and edge computing concepts.
  • Hands-on experience implementing stateful applications using Durable Objects.
  • Proficiency with Cloudflare D1, KV, and R2 data storage solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of Cloudflare's serverless ecosystem and architecture patterns.
  • Experience with debugging, monitoring, and troubleshooting applications deployed across Cloudflare’s global network.
  • Solid foundation in software engineering principles and best practices.
  • Experience designing and implementing distributed systems at scale.
  • Understanding of application security protocols, including authentication, authorization, and API security.
  • Proficiency in front-end frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue, Astro, or Svelte.
  • Experience creating CI/CD pipelines using tools like Wrangler and GitHub Actions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop comprehensive full-stack web applications utilizing Cloudflare Workers and Pages to deliver robust solutions.
  • Build secure, scalable REST and GraphQL APIs that operate efficiently on Cloudflare’s edge network.
  • Create intuitive, high-performance frontend applications using modern frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue, Astro, or Svelte.
  • Design and implement data storage and management solutions using D1, KV, Durable Objects, and R2 to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
  • Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms to safeguard application endpoints and user data.
  • Develop and maintain automated deployment pipelines and CI/CD processes employing Wrangler and GitHub Actions to streamline releases.
  • Optimize application performance, scalability, and resilience across multiple global edge locations to enhance user experience.
  • Integrate emerging AI capabilities using Workers AI, Vectorize, and related services where appropriate to add innovative features.
  • Monitor application health and troubleshoot production issues using Cloudflare’s observability tools, ensuring high availability and performance.
