About The Role
FDM is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloudflare Developer to join our team working within the public sector. This role offers an initial four-month contract with the potential for extension, providing an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful projects. The position is remote, with the flexibility to be based in Leeds or London. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable web applications leveraging Cloudflare's Developer Platform. You will work on cutting-edge serverless applications, utilizing Cloudflare Workers, Pages, D1, KV, R2, Durable Objects, and related cloud-native services. This role demands a strong foundation in full-stack development, with an emphasis on building high-performance, globally distributed applications that meet security and scalability standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience delivering one or more production applications primarily hosted on Cloudflare.
- Deep expertise with Cloudflare Workers and a solid understanding of edge computing concepts.
- Hands-on experience implementing stateful applications using Durable Objects.
- Extensive experience working with Cloudflare data solutions such as D1, KV, and R2.
- Strong knowledge of Cloudflare’s serverless ecosystem and architecture patterns.
- Proficiency in debugging, monitoring, and troubleshooting applications across Cloudflare’s global network.
- Solid software engineering fundamentals, including coding best practices, testing, and documentation.
- Experience designing and developing distributed systems with a focus on scalability and resilience.
- Understanding of application security best practices, including authentication and authorization mechanisms.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain full-stack web applications using Cloudflare Workers and Pages to meet project requirements.
- Create secure REST and GraphQL APIs that operate efficiently on Cloudflare's edge network, ensuring high performance and security.
- Build and optimize frontend applications utilizing frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue, Astro, or Svelte.
- Design and implement robust data solutions using D1, KV, Durable Objects, and R2, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
- Implement comprehensive security controls, including user authentication, authorization, and API security measures.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes using Wrangler, GitHub Actions, and other DevOps tools.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and resilience across multiple global edge locations to ensure a seamless user experience.
- Integrate AI capabilities into applications using Workers AI, Vectorize, and related services where applicable.
- Monitor application health and troubleshoot production issues using Cloudflare’s observability and monitoring tools to ensure high availability.
