Take ownership of the cloud and compute infrastructure supporting an ambitious technology platform as a Senior CloudStack Engineer.
Company Overview
This London-based technology business is developing infrastructure and technology at the intersection of artificial intelligence, data and high-performance computing. Its technical environment spans cloud platforms, physical infrastructure and compute systems, creating an opportunity to work across the complete infrastructure stack.
As the platform continues to develop, the business is looking for experienced infrastructure engineers who can solve complex technical challenges and contribute to the reliability, performance and scalability of its cloud environment.
Job Overview
As a Senior CloudStack Engineer, you will take significant responsibility for deploying, managing, troubleshooting and improving cloud and compute infrastructure.
The Senior CloudStack Engineer position is aimed at someone with around 3 to 6 years of experience across cloud infrastructure, Linux, networking, virtualisation or platform engineering.
You will work across Apache CloudStack or similar private cloud technologies, Linux, KVM, networking, storage and compute infrastructure. Strong CloudStack experience would be particularly valuable, although experienced engineers coming from OpenStack or comparable private cloud environments are also encouraged to apply.
As a Senior CloudStack Engineer, you will be expected to operate with greater independence, taking ownership of complex technical problems and contributing to decisions around infrastructure architecture, reliability, automation, performance and scalability.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Deploying, configuring and managing Apache CloudStack infrastructure
- Taking ownership of cloud infrastructure reliability, availability and performance
- Managing compute, virtual machines, storage and networking across the environment
- Managing and troubleshooting Linux and KVM virtualisation environments
- Diagnosing complex issues across CloudStack, networking, storage, compute and physical infrastructure
- Supporting the deployment and expansion of data centre and compute capacity
- Investigating infrastructure incidents, identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions
- Supporting infrastructure upgrades, migrations and configuration changes
- Improving infrastructure monitoring, resilience and operational processes
- Developing or improving automation for repetitive infrastructure tasks
- Contributing to infrastructure architecture and scalability decisions
- Creating and maintaining clear technical documentation
- Supporting less experienced engineers and sharing technical knowledge
- Working closely with senior technology leadership on infrastructure priorities

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
