Motum Insurance Services is looking for an experienced Senior Commercial Account Executive to join our Kettering branch – a role combining new business growth with ownership of an established client portfolio.
We're an FCA-regulated insurance broker with a network of local branches, combining national resources with genuinely local relationships. This is a role for a proven commercial insurance sales professional who can operate independently, win new business, and build lasting client relationships across property, liability and fleet insurance.
What you'll be doing:
- Self-generating new business through your own network, prospecting and referrals, alongside converting leads we provide
- Taking on a c.£1m GWP book of existing commercial clients – managing renewals, spotting cross-sell opportunities and reviewing cover as clients' needs change
- Working closely with our account handling/servicing team, who support you with day-to-day servicing on your book
- Advising business owners on more complex, higher-value commercial risks and negotiating terms with insurers
- Acting as a senior point of reference for newer colleagues in the branch

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
