Job title: Account Executive

Salary: £50,000 – £65,000

Location: Buckinghamshire

PURPOSE OF ROLE

A well-established insurance brokerage is looking to appoint an experienced Account Executive to join its growing commercial team in Buckinghamshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded insurance professional to take ownership of an existing portfolio, develop strong client relationships and identify opportunities to grow the book through new business and additional products.

You will work closely with clients, insurers and internal teams to deliver tailored insurance solutions while providing a high level of service and contributing to the continued growth of the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and develop a portfolio of commercial insurance clients.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Take responsibility for client renewals, ensuring appropriate cover and competitive terms are secured.
  • Identify and generate new business opportunities through networking, referrals and proactive prospecting.
  • Develop existing accounts through cross-selling and identifying additional client requirements.
  • Negotiate with insurers to secure appropriate cover and competitive premiums.
  • Attend client meetings and conduct regular account reviews.
  • Work closely with Account Handlers and internal teams to ensure a seamless service.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of clients' businesses, risks and changing insurance requirements.
  • Ensure all activity is carried out in line with regulatory requirements and company procedures.

DAY-TO-DAY

  • Managing your own portfolio and acting as the main point of contact for clients.
  • Developing relationships with business owners and senior decision-makers.
  • Conducting renewal and strategy meetings with clients.
  • Marketing risks to insurers and negotiating terms.
  • Identifying opportunities to grow income across existing accounts.
  • Attending networking events and developing new business leads.
  • Working alongside internal broking and support teams to deliver effective client solutions.
  • Keeping up to date with market conditions, insurer appetite and developments across the commercial insurance market.
  • Maintaining accurate client and pipeline information.

EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience working as a Commercial Account Executive within the insurance sector.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products and the ability to understand a variety of business risks.
  • Experience managing and developing an existing client portfolio.
  • Demonstrable experience in new business development and income generation.
  • Confident negotiating with insurers and presenting solutions to clients.
  • Experience dealing directly with business owners and senior-level stakeholders.
  • A strong track record of client retention and account development.
  • Cert CII, Dip CII or equivalent qualification would be advantageous.
