Sturdy Edwards Insurance Brokers has been providing expert insurance advice and services to businesses and private individuals for over 30 years from its base in East Grinstead, Sussex. The company offers a wide range of commercial insurance solutions, including cover for specialist trades.

Role Description

The Senior Account Handler is a full-time role based in East Grinstead. This role involves managing a portfolio of commercial insurance clients, handling renewals, mid-term adjustments, and new business enquiries. The Senior Account Handler will liaise with insurers to obtain quotations, negotiate terms, and ensure documentation is accurate and delivered on time. The role includes providing responsive customer service, advising clients on cover options and policy wording, and supporting the resolution of claims-related queries. The Senior Account Handler will also help mentor less experienced team members, contribute to process improvements, and uphold regulatory and compliance standards.

  • Strong experience in Insurance and Insurance Brokerage, ideally within both commercial and personal lines.
  • Proficiency in Account Management and Renewals, including managing a client portfolio and handling mid-term changes.
  • Demonstrated Customer Service skills, with a focus on clear communication, active listening, and building long-term client relationships.
  • Good understanding of insurance products, policy wordings, and insurer markets, with the ability to explain complex information in accessible terms.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confidence in using insurance broking systems and standard office software; willingness to learn new tools and processes.
  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., progress toward CII or equivalent) are highly beneficial.
  • Previous experience in a handling or similar role within an insurance brokerage environment is a requirement.
