Senior Commercial Analyst

Nigel Wright is delighted to be partnering with an instantly recognisable financial services business in their search for a highly educated Senior Commercial Analyst to join its commercial investment team. This opportunity offers exceptional exposure to investment appraisal, portfolio performance, strategic decision-making and stakeholder engagement within a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
The successful candidate will support senior leaders by transforming complex data into meaningful commercial insights, helping to shape investment decisions, assess new opportunities and identify potential risks across a diverse investment portfolio.
The Opportunity
- Analysing investment performance and supporting commercial decisions across multiple portfolios and investment strategies.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders across finance, investment, portfolio management and specialist leadership teams.
- Develop sophisticated financial models used to support strategic and commercial decision-making.
- Gain exposure to investment appraisals, portfolio analysis, forecasting, valuation and performance monitoring.
- Play a key role in enhancing modelling capability, business intelligence reporting and the future adoption of AI-driven analytical tools.
- Support a wide variety of strategic projects in a highly visible and commercially impactful environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain and enhance complex financial models to support investment decisions.
- Analyse financial performance, returns and profitability across a range of investment strategies.
- Conduct forecasting, scenario modelling, sensitivity analysis and stress testing.
- Monitor portfolio performance, identify trends and provide actionable recommendations.
- Support evaluation of new investment opportunities through detailed financial analysis.
- Present findings and explain outputs to senior stakeholders across the business.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in analytical frameworks, reporting processes and technology solutions.
About You
- Degree educated from a top tier university within a quantitative discipline such as Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Accounting or a STEM subject.
- Strong financial modelling capability and advanced Excel skills.
- Solid understanding of accounting and finance principles.
- Experience gained within a corporate finance, consulting, investment, commercial finance or analytical environment.
- Naturally inquisitive with excellent numerical and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
- Motivated by working in a fast-paced environment where insight and analysis influence business strategy.
