The Opportunity
Net Zero People are working with a fantastic Renewables IPP and we are looking for a Senior Commercial Analyst to take ownership of the trading strategy, financial modelling, and performance optimisation across a diverse portfolio of gas, battery, and e-boiler assets.
Energy markets don't stand still and neither do we. As our grid and heat asset portfolio grows, we need a sharp, commercially minded analyst to help us stay ahead of the curve across gas, battery, and e-boiler trading.
If you love the idea of turning market data into trading strategy, building financial models that actually drive decisions, and having real ownership over how a portfolio performs, keep reading.
A Day in This Role Might Look Like...
- Checking overnight market movements and adjusting trading positions on your gas and battery assets.
- Digging into a variance in the monthly management accounts and figuring out whether it's a one-off or a trend worth flagging.
- Running the numbers on a potential hedge.
- Sitting down with stakeholders from across the business to pitch an idea for squeezing more value out of an underperforming asset.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You're Probably a Great Fit If...

- You can build a financial model from scratch and defend every assumption in it
- You understand how network charges like GDUoS and TNUoS actually affect distributed energy assets
- You've got a working knowledge of project finance
- You don't wait to be told what to fix, you spot it and go do something about it
- You can hold your own in a room full of stakeholders with competing priorities
- Bonus points if you're ACCA, CIMA, or CFA qualified (or working towards it), or hold a degree in Maths, Economics, or Computer Science
