About Us

At Arbuthnot Latham, we pride ourselves on building enduring relationships with ambitious owner-managed businesses and their principals. This role sits within our Commercial Trading team and offers the opportunity to take over and grow an established portfolio of high-quality commercial banking clients, typically valued between £1m and £20m but with no upper limit. With a strong emphasis on deposit gathering, you will deliver a sophisticated Commercial Banking service, providing tailored funding where appropriate, while partnering closely with Private Bankers to deepen client relationships, generate referrals, and build a profitable, sustainable portfolio that supports the long-term strength of the Bank.

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary relationship management responsibility for a discrete portfolio of more complex commercial clients, serving as their strategic partner in the bank and acting as a gateway to other products and services.
  • Meet demanding new business development targets and ensure unwavering commitment to service excellence.
  • Manage a high value and complex portfolio of both assets and liabilities (including the management of a loan book) with particular focus on its impact on the P&L and Balance Sheet.
  • Develop and present business cases and initiate credit proposals that are complex, in-depth and large in value to meet your clients’ needs.
  • Overall responsibility for your own risk and regulatory performance as a senior member of the banking team, including the client acquisition process.
  • Manage and develop an extensive network of external business relationships and introducers to acquire, develop and service SME clients.
  • Work proactively with the Director, Commercial Banking to develop a strategic business plan for your area, including support in the development of less experienced Relationship Managers and Support staff.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
