Senior Commercial Cost Analyst (Industrial)
Reporting to: Head of Commercial
Role Summary
The Senior Commercial Cost Analyst is responsible for providing commercial administration, reporting, cost analysis and financial control support across the Industrial division. The role works closely with Project Managers, Operational Managers, Commercial and Finance teams to ensure project costs, revenues and commercial information are accurately maintained, reported and controlled throughout the project lifecycle.
The position plays a key role in supporting commercial decision-making through the provision of accurate financial reporting, cost analysis, forecasting and performance monitoring. The role is responsible for identifying commercial risks and opportunities, maintaining robust reporting processes, and ensuring compliance with company procedures, governance requirements and contractual obligations.
The Senior Commercial Cost Analyst supports the management of lower-value and lower-risk contracts whilst providing detailed commercial insight that enables improved project performance, profitability and cash flow management across the division.

Key Responsibilities
- Work in accordance with Wilmott Group and subsidiary company procedures, using bespoke systems and complying with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Produce accurate and timely commercial and financial reports for senior stakeholders.
- Prepare and maintain Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), including condensed CVR reporting for high-risk projects.
- Analyse actual costs, budgets, forecasts and variances to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
- Maintain commercial risk registers and Level 1 commercial master trackers.
- Develop and maintain commercial dashboards, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics.
- Support operational teams in the implementation and continuous improvement of reporting dashboards.
- Provide detailed analysis of revenue, margins, profitability and project cost drivers.
- Participate in weekly project progress reviews and monthly project health meetings with operational leadership.
- Monitor project, contract and operational costs against approved budgets and forecasts.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements, working closely with Project Management and Procurement teams.
- Support contract administration activities, including applications for payment, invoicing and retention tracking.
- Ensure accurate cost allocation and accounting treatment in line with business requirements.
- Partner with operational and commercial managers to improve financial performance and project outcomes.
- Present analysis, insights and recommendations to senior leadership teams.
- Ensure compliance with commercial governance frameworks and financial controls.
- Maintain high standards of data integrity, reporting accuracy and commercial record keeping.
- Support internal and external audit activities and provide commercial reporting documentation as required.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across commercial reporting processes.
- Identify and implement reporting enhancements and process automation opportunities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The Senior Commercial Cost Analyst will be measured against the following key performance indicators:

Customer Invoicing Performance
- Achieve monthly customer invoicing targets as agreed by Finance and the Head of Commercial.
- Ensure invoicing is accurate, complete and submitted within agreed timescales.
- Support the achievement of cash flow and working capital objectives through timely invoicing.

Goods Received Note (GRN) Performance
- Achieve monthly GRN matching targets for supplier invoices as agreed by Finance and the Head of Commercial.
- Ensure supplier invoice matching is completed accurately and within agreed timescales.
- Promptly resolve discrepancies to maintain accurate cost reporting and financial control.

Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) Reporting
- Prepare and complete monthly CVRs for all designated high-risk projects.
- Deliver CVRs within agreed reporting deadlines to support operational reviews.
- Provide accurate cost, value, margin and risk analysis for review with the Head of Project Delivery (Industrial).

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Experience in a Commercial Analyst, Cost Analyst, Commercial Administrator, Quantity Surveying support or similar commercial role.
- Strong understanding of project cost control, budgeting, forecasting and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
- Experience analysing financial and commercial data to identify risks, trends and opportunities.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in commercial reporting systems.
- Ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful commercial insight.
- Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across commercial, finance and operational teams.
Desirable
- Experience within the construction, industrial, engineering or infrastructure sectors.
- Knowledge of contract administration, payment applications and retention management.
- Experience creating performance dashboards and management information reports.
- Experience using ERP, commercial management or project control systems.
- A relevant qualification in Finance, Commercial Management, Business or a related discipline.
