A Great Opportunity acting as the focal point for MBDA UK for all commercial matters, providing strong leadership for the commercial function
Salary: Circa £80,000 depending on experience
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2-3 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship
Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:
Acting as the focal point for MBDA UK for all commercial and contractual matters, providing strong leadership for the Commercial UK function acting as the commercial authority for assigned projects. With a strong focus on developing people and supporting the commercial skill set. Lead the commercial teams' development, promoting professional standards ensuring MBDA's commercial capability. Lead commercial interactions with the customer on complex commercial issues being mindful of strategic impact with the overall aim of high performing delivery. Provide authorisation (within delegated authority) for bid submissions, contract signature and functional activities. Ensure compliance and appropriate application of company policies and standards. Provide advice and guidance on complex terms and conditions ensuring those that have a business impact are fully understood.

Key Accountabilities
- Ensuring, in conjunction with Head of Commercial and VP Commercial, that MBDA's Commercial interests are safeguarded during all phases of contracts.
- In conjunction with Head of Commercial direct team and project stakeholders, devise appropriate strategies for the resolution of contractual disputes and maximise opportunities
- Ensure assigned Project Teams and direct reports understand the requirements accepted by MBDA UK in UK contract terms, particularly in relation to:
- Single Source Pricing Regulations
- Defcons
- Intellectual Property
- Cyber Security
- Non-standard terms – e.g. liabilities and indemnities
- Commercial risk
- To provide Commercial rigour in allocated programmes with respect to establishing clear baselines, with adherence to cost and schedule going forwards.
- Ensuring bids are submitted on time and to an acceptable quality.
- Ensuring the negotiation of contract/amendments are conducted in a manner which safeguards the business interests of MBDA.
- Ensuring that such contract/amendments are executed successfully and that all of MBDA's obligations are understood and met.
What we're looking for from you:
- Someone with experience leading commercial teams/Function.
- Excellent commercial domain experience across a broad spectrum of commercial activities (e.g. bidding, contract management, legal, export control, cost and pricing)
- The ideal candidate will have Defence experience or experience with UK DEFCON contracting and Single Source Pricing Regulations.
- Someone who can maximise identified business opportunities and implement commercial objectives to support such activities.
- Is responsible for leading teams of Commercial staff, providing effective people management and development.
- Forms part of the Executive management team, both within Commercial UK and the assigned Project Teams, working closely with the Project Vice Presidents and supporting the multifunctional leadership aspects of the areas to deliver our promises to the customer.
- Is an effective communicator both internally; informing a wide range of stakeholders, and externally; building and maintaining good working relationships with customer counterparts.
- Has the ability to set out strategies relating to the negotiation of complex commercial situations to the benefit of the company.
- Can ensure that the correct commercial coverage is in place to protect the company and its information.
- Able to support Commercial teams within their area in the management of any contractual information and agreements, including obtaining and implementing legal advice. Able to guide teams through commercial issues.
