Senior Commercial Finance Analyst
Leeds | £40,000 – £50,000 | Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days home
I’m working with a large international professional services organisation to recruit a Senior Commercial Finance Analyst into its established finance team in Leeds.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the analytical and commercial side of finance – working with data, understanding what the numbers are telling you and then being able to communicate that clearly to stakeholders across the business.
You don’t necessarily need to be fully qualified. You may be part-qualified ACCA/CIMA or have developed strong commercial finance experience without following the professional qualification route.
What you will need is excellent Excel. This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys working with spreadsheets and large volumes of financial data. You’ll be confident with PivotTables, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, formulas and manipulating and analysing data. Power BI experience would be a definite advantage as you will work with this daily.
The Role
Working as part of a sizeable commercial finance function, you’ll:
- Analyse financial and commercial performance, including P&L and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Produce regular reporting and analysis, identifying trends and areas requiring further investigation
- Work extensively with Excel and large datasets to interrogate and interpret financial information
- Turn financial information into clear, useful commercial insight
- Support stakeholders in understanding performance and the key drivers behind the numbers
- Provide analysis to support commercial and business decision-making
- Work with stakeholders across different areas and international locations
- Manage a busy workload where priorities can change quickly
- Build strong relationships with both finance and non-finance colleagues
- Contribute to improving reporting, processes and the way financial information is used across the business

What We're Looking For
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience within commercial finance, financial analysis or a similar analytical finance role
- Good understanding of P&L, KPIs and commercial performance
- Advanced Excel skills – this is essential
- Strong analytical ability and confidence working with significant volumes of data
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain financial information clearly
- A proactive and responsive approach to your workload
- Experience working in a busy, commercially focused environment
- Power BI experience would be highly desirable as it will be used daily
- SAP experience would be ideal
- Experience within a law firm would be particularly attractive, although candidates from other professional services or larger/international organisations will also be considered.
- You could be part-qualified ACCA/CIMA, or qualified by experience with a strong track record in relevant finance roles.

What's on Offer?
This is a high-expectation environment, but one where people are supported, developed and recognised for doing a good job. There is genuine opportunity to progress as you develop within the team.
The role is Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm (35 hours per week), with a hybrid working pattern of three days in the Leeds office and two days from home.
Salary will depend on experience and qualification level, with scope to approximately £50,000 for the right candidate, plus benefits and the potential for a discretionary bonus.
