About The Role

We are looking for a highly commercial Senior Finance Analyst to partner the Memberships and Events side of our business. You will own budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning and commercial analysis, as well as supporting as gatekeeper of the business metrics for this area.

This is a highly commercial business-partnering role where you'll work closely with senior leaders, reporting on performance and keeping focus on the analysis that moves the business forward. You'll be comfortable picking up ad hoc project work as priorities shift, working at pace.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Leveraging data and analytics as a competitive advantage, providing strategic insights and recommendations to support the organisation's long-term financial goals and objectives.
  • Budgeting and forecasting membership and event revenues and costs.
  • Long-term planning of event strategy and the corresponding investment.
  • Acting as subject matter expert and supporting gatekeeper of the reported metrics for this part of the business.
  • Supporting fact-based business decisions by providing analysis and information (including financial business cases), along with actionable recommendations. For example commercial analysis and modelling on a wide range of areas such as; subscription revenues, networks, events customer behaviour trends, event costs and commission schemes.
  • Supporting Mergers and Acquisitions activity through financial analysis.

Business partnering & commercial insight

  • Act as a trusted finance business partner to senior leaders across events and memberships.
  • Translate commercial questions into clear financial analysis and recommendations.
  • Build business cases to support new commercial initiatives, for example pricing changes, location changes, commission schemes for sales and events teams or team restructures.
  • Respond to ad hoc analytical requests from senior leadership at pace.

Budgeting, forecasting & planning

  • Own the budgeting and forecasting process for events and memberships revenue and costs, including event-level P&Ls.
  • Support long-term planning for events strategy, including investment cases for new or expanded events.
  • Build scenario and sensitivity models to support key commercial decisions.

Reporting & governance

  • Own and safeguard the reported metrics and KPIs for the memberships, events and networks business, the single source of truth for this part of the business.
  • Ensure relevant accounting standards are applied correctly, including revenue recognition for events and membership income.

AI adoption & process improvement

  • Identify and implement AI opportunities to speed up forecasting, reporting and analysis.
  • Continuously improve FP&A processes, reducing manual effort and improving accuracy.
  • Query the business's underlying database directly using SQL to support analysis, rather than relying solely on pre-built reports.

About You

Requirements

Qualification & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
  • FP&A or commercial finance experience, ideally within a subscription, events, membership or media business.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced excel and modelling skills.
  • Has experience of, or willing to learn SQL coding.
  • Enthusiasm for and practical experience using AI tools to improve finance processes and analysis.

Personal Attributes

  • Above all, intellectually curious, and open-minded.
  • Enjoys digging into data, identifying trends and producing models and concise summaries of the findings.
  • Able to gather and organise findings into recommendations and able to report and present on these.
  • Able to simplify technical financial concepts to others with varying levels of knowledge.
  • Detail orientated.
  • An excellent communicator (verbal and written) with strong interpersonal and business partnering skills.
  • Able to operate in a level of ambiguity and comfortable working at pace.
  • Welcomes working in a high profile role with senior management across the business.
