We are looking for Senior Commercial Finance Manager who would like to help us reach our mission to “earn customer loyalty and drive business growth by providing consistently excellent service”.

Purpose of this role

You will play a key role in commercial finance activities across all Group utilities and business units, delivering investment appraisals, business cases and commercial insight to support strategic decision-making and value creation.

Your Key Responsibilities Are

Investment appraisal

  • Develop financial models, DCF valuations and scenario analyses to assess investment opportunities.
  • Present analysis and recommendations to senior stakeholders, supporting robust commercial decision-making.
  • Undertake post-investment reviews to assess performance against approved business cases and identify lessons learned.

Market analysis & strategy

  • Analyse market trends, competitor activity and regulatory developments to identify commercial opportunities and risks across the Group.
  • Produce insight and recommendations to support strategic planning and business growth initiatives.

Commercial bidding & pricing

  • Develop and maintain market bid models used for sales tendering, ensuring assumptions relating to revenue, operating costs and capital expenditure remain accurate and robust.
  • Develop and maintain product investment books, clearly articulating market dynamics, investment rationale, expected returns, risks and opportunities.
  • Partner with sales teams to develop and implement bespoke bidding and commercial arrangements and strategies.

Special projects

  • Undertake financial appraisal and support due diligence activities for M&A opportunities.

  • Develop business cases and financial evaluations for ad hoc projects.

  • Support commercial contract negotiations across different sales channels and utilities within the Group.

  • Any other duties and project work as required by management.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with extensive post-qualified experience.

Experience/Knowledge

  • Experience developing complex financial models and undertaking investment appraisals.
  • Experience working across functions and supporting senior leadership with strategic decision making.
  • A high level of technical and professional skills/knowledge in job-related areas.

Abilities/Skills

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Ability to present complex financial and commercial concepts to senior stakeholders.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of value creation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.

Desirable

  • Experience of valuing companies and working with external advisors on M&A transactions.
  • Experience supporting and influencing commercial contract negotiations.
  • Develops effective relationships across the business, providing constructive challenge and financial insight to support decision-making.
